Stranded Series
By Nara H.
Hello, I am about to introduce you to a very good book series called Stranded. The author of the Stranded series is Jeff Probst, the host of the popular show Survivor. The co-author is Chris Tebbetts, who if you didn't know also wrote the book Middle School: Thew Worst Years of My Life. Stranded is about four kids--Carter, VanessaBuzz, and Jane--who get stranded on an island caused by a ship crash trying to survive. The book is truly about survival skills and learning what to do in the oddest of times. The kids learn how to survive and that they can depend on each other. The Stranded Series has three books: Stranded, Stranded 2: Trial by Fire, Stranded 3: Survivors. I hope you take a chance and try to read some books because I recommended them to everyone.

A DAY IN THE AFTERMATH
by Eric H.
He looked over a cliff top with a cool breeze going through his hair and armor. A girl touched his shoulder. He jumped a little bit and she said, "Are you okay, Phoenix?"
He replied, "No, I'm not. All of my squad was killed." He looked sad. She was surprised. He had never looked sad before.
He said, "You don't understand. I have seen men die, but that was an execution."
She said to him, "We can win this war."
He looked at her and turned away quickly and said, "I want this to be over because I'm only twelve. I can't live like this anymore." He started crying. It was his first time crying ever.

Freefall: Part One
by Khalil R.
I rushed through the forest. I brushed past the vines, bushes, and trees. I could hear the gunshots behind me and the screams at the end of my path. The sound of rushing water is what pressed me forward.
Once I reached the cliff, I turned around. I could see the trees collapse in the path of the mob following me. I stopped at the cliff edge and peered over it. Gripping on the edge before me were two helpless souls. I didn't know who to save. All I knew is that I could only save one.

Freefall: Part Two
by Khalil R.
To the right: my best friend. But to the left: the girl I loved. I was torn. But I had no time to think. I had to ask fast. I grabbed Kyan's hand and flung him up with me. At that moment the girl fell. I couldn't bear to see her die, so I did what any person would do for their love: I jumped. In midfall, I reached out to grab her hand. It was just barely out of reach as I extended it further. I had to save her. I pushed myself past my limits, the adrenaline crushing my fear of heights. I touched her finger. My lungs burned for air as the speed at which we fell stopped me from breathing. The ground was approaching rapidly. I grabbed her hand and pulled her toward me. I put her body above my own, hoping to absorb the impact. I knew that my life was over, but at least in my absence, a soul would be saved from the ground much closer than before. In my last seconds, I managed to utter these three words. "I love you." Then, it all went dark.......
